To the femicidal prison of Laury Yisel from Cesar

Jonathan David Montes Arrieta, ex-partner of Laury Yisel Guzmán, the young woman from Caesarea murdered inside an apartment in Bucaramanga last year, was sent to prison by the Fifth Municipal Criminal Court with Guarantee Functions, for the crime of aggravated femicide, the charges of which I do not accept.

During the hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office revealed chilling details of the femicide of Laury Yisel Guzmán Becerra. According to the autopsy, the young woman was subjected to abuse, beaten, gagged and strangled. The cause of her death was mechanical asphyxiation due to strangulation, according to the Forensic Medicine opinion.

The man apparently murdered her because she did not want to continue with the relationship, since she was allegedly subjected to psychological and physical abuse by him.

Daniel Dulcey, attorney representing the victim’s family, assured that the judge in the case considered that the alleged feminicide is a danger to society.

“During the hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office was able to demonstrate that Jonathan and Laury had a romantic relationship, that Jonathan wanted to formalize the relationship. It was shown that Laury entered that room in which she appeared lifeless in the company of Jonathan who 12 hours later came out with other clothes and escaped,” said the lawyer.

It is suspected that the crime may have been preceded by sexual abuse and brutal physical assault. The motivations behind the murder would be related to the jealousy and obsession that this man had towards the young occupational health professional from the municipality of La Jagua de Ibirico in Cesar. The prosecutor described his actions as an act of dominance and control, motivated by a desire to prevent Laury from being with another person.

Presumably the couple had been hanging out with some friends shortly before. “One of the attendees that night reported that she no longer wanted to dance with Jonathan, she no longer wanted to continue with the relationship, she, apparently, had a new relationship. “He was enraged,” the prosecutor revealed during the hearing.

Jonathan David Montes Arrieta was captured in Sincelejo, Sucre, where he was hiding from the authorities with a different physical appearance and long hair, with which he could not continue hiding from the police. This man could be serving a sentence of 50 years in prison.

As you will remember, the young woman had been reported missing by her family, who, upon noticing that she was not communicating with them, looked for a way to make contact with her partner’s friends and family. Likewise, her co-workers missed Laury’s absence in the warehouse where she worked, property of the accused.

They immediately informed the authorities, and the young woman’s body was found lifeless inside the apartment where she lived with her partner in Bucaramanga.
