A subject belonging to gang groups and with an extensive criminal history was intercepted and placed under arrest by elements of the National Civil Police (PNC), as confirmed by the police institution this Thursday morning.
The detainee goes by the name of Carlos Humberto Vásquez García, alias Peluca, profiled as an active member of the criminal structures of the MS13 gang that operates in San Marcos, department of San Salvador.
The subject has a program corridor rank and has an extensive criminal history. He was in prison since 2001 in the Ciudad Barrios prison, in San Miguel, but was released by the previous judicial system several years ago.
At the time of his capture, a pistol, three chargers, five cell phones, packages of marijuana, cash and a notebook with notes linked to extortion were seized. The subject is considered a Target of Police Interest and was detained in Huizúcar, in La Libertad.
The Police indicated that the detainee will be sent directly to the Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot) and will be prosecuted for the crimes of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm, drug possession and illicit groups.
