A 15-month-old boy was bitten and killed by two pit bulls. The tragedy occurred in a rural house in the Eboli area, in the Campolongo area, in the province of Salerno. There is still little information acquired by the police who are on site. The dogs, owned by a friend of the child’s mother, they would attack when the child was in the arms of an uncle. Leaving the house, the two dogs would have bitten the child, literally tearing him from the arms of the man, who remained unharmed. The woman would have immediately intervened to try to save her child, but she herself was injured: she was bitten in several places on her legs.
According to an initial reconstruction made by the police the two dogs may have considered the child a sort of “play doll” or, nothing has been ruled out, a “foreign” element, and in their excitement they threw themselves at him. The two pit bulls were taken from the house and transferred to a kennel. In the meantime, the Eboli police are trying to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragic accident, to understand first of all whether the child was alone in the garden with the two dogs.
