After the controversy rained down on the Municipality of Turin and after the news that a few million euros more in special contributions will arrive from Rome than the 70 initially foreseen, the mayor Stefano Lo Russo corrects the shot and revises downward the increases in the income tax in the envelopes pay of the Turinese for the income bracket between 28 thousand and 50 thousand euros.

In claiming the guidelines for access to the extraordinary fund for municipalities in difficulty, approved today by the Red Room with 24 votes in favor and 12 against, the mayor explained that “the parameters of the agreement are extremely advantageous for the city and I believe that the sacrifice asked of the Turinese can be sustainable. I apologize to those who will be affected by this increase in the personal income tax rate, 28% of taxpayers, 2% of whom above 100,000 euros are those who will be affected the most. But in the light of the ruling of the Court of Auditors and the collapse of the Municipality I had no alternative but to ask for direct help from the Government, which I thank for having grasped the emergency state of the City. I claim – he concludes – the political choice of not divesting the subsidiaries, which we could have done in order not to increase the personal income tax, just as we could have cut the hiring plan which, however, is a duty of this administration “
With the increase in the municipal surcharge for the two highest brackets, the Municipality expects to collect 18 million. With a tax return of 50 thousand euros, the increase will be 75 euros more than last year, above the 100 thousand euros of 250.
