Val di Zoldo, flames on the side of the road: the times for the reopening of the Sp 251 are getting longer

The Region promises a commitment to cancel once and for all the critical issues. Councilor De Berti: targeted interventions are needed, preceding those planned for the Olympics

LONGARONE. The front of the fire affecting the provincial road 251 now extends for about five kilometers. The situation is complex, difficult. This morning whoever coordinated the extinguishing interventions had to invite the technicians of Veneto Strade to leave. “It is becoming increasingly difficult to estimate the times for reopening the road from the moment the flames go out,” the company said.

The situation is unsustainable. An awareness has come from the Region. The commissioner Elisa De Berti asks for a table with Anas, the Region and the Province to verify where to intervene for the future: “Over the years I have taken this path several times and I must admit that, among all the roads in the Veneto region, it is the one that puts a little more fear. Together with Comelico, this road is one of those that presents critical issues that must be resolved », she says. Yesterday the councilor called the mayor of Val di Zoldo, Camillo De Pellegrin to find out what to do. “We must find a solution to prevent the Sp 251 from being closed every time there is a landslide,” insists the vice president of Veneto. «In the coming months the passage of the provincial roads in Anas will be completed, following the reclassification started some time ago. For this reason it will be necessary to sit down with all the stakeholders and understand what to do. Of course, it will take time and resources. We need targeted interventions, which precede those planned for the Olympics, because we would go too far. In the meantime, an alternative solution is needed to buffer this situation of eternal criticality ».

What the councilor for transport, De Berti proposes, is an analysis of the problems from which to start and then act. «Mayor De Pellegrin explained to me that the critical points are well known, the areas subject to landslides are known. Let’s start from here to do something ». The Region in this game would enter as coordinator, as it is a provincial road, which will soon pass into the hands of Anas, therefore to state management. “We can also lend a hand to coordinate the table and see what needs to be done”, says De Berti who concludes: “We are looking for alternative solutions: if someone wants to invest, the resources are welcome here”.
