He killed Daniele, his 7-year-old son and then tried to stab his wife as well but was arrested by the Carabinieri. It happened in the Varese area. Davide Paitone, 40, from Morazzone, was discovered after the attempted murder of the woman who was saved. The carabinieri arrested him in Viggiù. During the search of his home in Morazzone, the body of his seven-year-old son was discovered in the wardrobe: next to the body a note with a sort of confession. Paitone, who had a dose of cocaine in his car, had left his father a voice message immediately after the crime telling him that he had hurt Daniele and inviting him not to open that wardrobe.
Here are the facts. The man, a worker, had two criminal records, one for mistreatment in the family resulting from an ongoing violent and difficult separation. The other for aggravated injuries because on November 26, in Azzate, after a quarrel with a colleague he stabbed him. For this latest episode he had been placed under house arrest with permission, however, to see his son. On New Year’s it was his turn to be with the baby.
A trap for his wife to try to kill her
Following the separation, the 36-year-old woman lived with her parents in Gazzada Schianno, in the province of Varese, he had returned to his elderly father’s house in Morazzone. Last night at 9.30 pm he presented himself in Gazzada where he tried to set a trap for the woman, inviting her to go out into the street with the excuse of delivering her son. But once in the street he attacked her with a series of stab wounds, injuring her arms, chest and face. So, he fled. From the first forensic investigations it emerged that the murder dated back to the afternoon, before the man left the house to go and stab his ex-wife.
After a long chase stopped in a wood
At that point the alarm went off and the carabinieri of the Varese provincial command coordinated by prosecutor Luca Petrucci intervened. The search for his son immediately started, the soldiers went to Morazzone and asked his father for news: “I don’t know, my son isn’t here”. The carabinieri carried out a search in the apartment. In a bedroom closet, perfectly tidy and without the slightest trace of blood, they discovered the baby’s corpse with a stab wound to the throat.
The gazelles of the weapon intercepted the car of Davide Paitone, a gray Golf, at 5.30 near Viggiù, they chased it and rammed it but the worker managed to escape and for a certain time to lose the its traces along a dead end road that ended in a wood in Colle Sant’Elia.
The man then took refuge in a hunters’ hut where he was surrounded. After a few minutes of negotiation, he suddenly came out brandishing his knife and screaming, then he pointed it in the throat threatening to kill himself: the carabinieri jumped on him, disarming and arresting him.

The murder of little Daniele, 7, “was a tragedy announced in a big way”: on social media there is a unanimous chorus of condemnation not only for the father, but for those who allowed him to see his son. “He kills his son, tries to assassinate his ex, the mother of his son and a victim of violence on his part, and who knows that they won’t give him more house arrest. The year begins well and we thank the Italian justice”, reads Facebook. “We thank the Italian injustice! No one has thought of sheltering an innocent child? There remains so much anger and sadness, a child who had to remain very far from a dangerous and psychopathic subject” adds another user.
