The driver of an Opel Corsa crashed into a parked car during the night from Friday to Saturday. The driver ran away and is tracked down by the police.
It was around 1 o’clock on Saturday night when the driver of an Opel Corsa lost control on the Halsesteenweg in the direction of the intersection with Hemelrijk-Nieuwstraat. The driver crashed into the back of a parked BMW just past the football field, near the axle shift and the traffic island. The impact caused the vehicle to end up a few meters further, against a tractor that was also in the parking lane.
Hit and run
When the owner of the vehicle that was hit came to see what had happened, the driver of the Opel Corsa was nowhere to be found. It was immediately clear that the driver of the vehicle had committed a hit-and-run accident. The police arrived on the scene to make the findings and tracked down the driver of the Opel Corsa based on the vehicle’s identification data. The material damage is enormous to both vehicles. Nothing is known about the condition of the driver of the vehicle that struck.
