After VfB Stuttgart’s 3-2 win at VfL Wolfsburg, those involved commented on the game. We summarize the votes for the game.
VfB Stuttgart is still on course for the European Cup after the 3-2 win at VfL Wolfsburg. After the game we collected the votes of the players and those responsible.
VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We are really proud. I had a lot of respect for VfL. We started the game well and were in control. It was a good mix of short passing and drawing the opponent out, but then also playing over them. Over the course of the first half, the start-up was no longer 100 percent right. The reaction to the 1-1 was strong, these are game-deciding moments. We fought until the end and defended outstandingly together.”
Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac: We had problems getting started in the first half. If we had kept the score at 1-1 a little longer, we would probably have gotten the crowd on our side. VfB scored the third goal very well and shifted the side. The bottom line is that the victory is completely fine. Today I didn’t have the feeling that we would be able to make it 3-3.”
VfB captain Waldemar Anton: “It was a very wild final phase in which we threw everything we had at the balls. Our performance was definitely better than last week. The mentality was right, we had moves forward and chances to score.”
VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “There were hardly any pauses for breathing and a few smaller phases in which Wolfsburg started high and had chances. But it was impressive to see the self-confidence with which our players completed their task. It was a deserved victory.”
