Fort Lauderdale woman goes missing in Madrid, husband accused of kidnapping
The disappearance of Ana María Henao, a 40-year-old Colombian-born American woman, has left her family and friends in anguish as they seek answers and justice in this troubling case. Henao, who had been residing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, traveled to Madrid in December to take a break amid a difficult divorce from her husband, David Knezevich.
According to reports, Henao was last seen on February 2, 2024, in Madrid, where she had been living for some time. Her friends and family grew suspicious when they received strange text messages from her phone on February 3, claiming she had met someone wonderful, had a house two hours from Madrid, and was leaving with that person. These messages raised doubts among her loved ones as they did not seem to match Henao’s usual way of communicating.
Further investigation revealed troubling details that pointed towards Knezevich’s involvement in Ana María’s disappearance. The evidence reportedly links him to her apartment on the night she went missing, and authorities found suspicious activities such as the disabling of security cameras in the building where she was staying and the use of spray paint to cover them.
Moreover, Knezevich’s actions after Henao’s disappearance, such as renting a car with darkened windows and stolen license plates, and allegedly impersonating her to cancel insurance policies and open a new bank account, have raised serious concerns.
The case took a significant turn when the FBI announced the arrest of David Knezevich, aged 36, at Miami International Airport, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a U.S. citizen in Madrid. The Spanish National Police, along with other law enforcement agencies, were involved in the joint investigation that led to Knezevich’s apprehension.
As authorities continue to investigate Ana María Henao’s disappearance, her family and friends remain hopeful for a resolution to this disturbing case. They are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward and help bring her home safely. The community stands in solidarity with the Henao family as they seek justice for Ana María.
