Elizabeth del Valle Fernández, who was traveling with her son in the ambulance plane that crashed in Valledupar, a few minutes after taking off from the Alfonso López Pumarejo airport in this capital, recounted the moments from when the aircraft failed until they fell to the ground.
“It was a miracle from God, we were born again as I tell my son because when the plane fell it was already on fire and as best we could we got out and in a matter of two or three minutes it exploded. It is something difficult that I will never forget, but I must continue for my son who is his priority and they transfer him again for his treatment and that is why the transfer was yesterday,” said Contreras.
He reported that together with the pilot they managed to break one of the windows of the plane and get out helping the other crew members, but the doctor, Jorge Ecury Perdomo, was trapped with several elements on top of him and also had his seat belt on and they were unable to rescue him.
Both Elizabeth and her child only suffered minor trauma and are waiting for the doctors to determine a new transfer since the child must undergo chemotherapy treatment.
For his part, German Ecury, the doctor’s brother, said outside Forensic Medicine, where he was carrying out the work to claim the body, that his loved one dedicated 30 years to medicine as a specialist in emergencies and critical situations, whom they will remember as passionate about his profession.
“That was his job and passion, I think he wanted to give back a little health to others through his work saving lives, all after the tragedy of the death of his youngest son during the pandemic, he was a very generous person, a hero,” said Germán Ecury.
Among the other occupants of the plane are: the pilot of the plane, Belisario Niño, has injuries to the skull; the paramedic Cristian Andrés Ríos, with a wound to the face; and Kevin Rojas Guatame, co-pilot, suffered lacerations to his upper limb. These three injured people, who belong to the Charter SAE ambulance company, are being treated at the Simón Bolívar Pediatric clinic and their condition is stable.
