After the demise of vallenato singer-songwriter Omar Geles, media websites and even well-known folks have mentioned that the king of vallenato comes from Mahates, Bolívar, the division the place his household comes from.
However, on Thursday, the National Registry of Civil Status honored the composer and printed his first citizenship card, stating that he was born within the city of Valledupar, Cesar.

But this doubt about his birthplace was clarified by Omar Geles himself when he participated within the fortieth version of the Vallenata Legend Festival in 2007.
“I’m a boy born in a village,
that everybody is aware of because of this Festival
and my dad and mom come from very far international locations as a result of on February 15 I used to be born in Valledupar,
and I’m turning 40, identical because the Festival.
