Several institutions carry out environmental mines to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

Given the evident expansion of the vector and the dengue disease, Health workers, as well as officials from Senepa, the municipalities, and the support of Itaipú Binacional, intensify the work to prevent the proliferation of the transmitting mosquito for which they have carried out environmental mingas.

According to the report from the health institution, Ciudad del Este accumulated 262 people affected by dengue in the last week. Next, Hernandarias is ranked with 75, and the town of Presidente Franco with 49 positives. While Minga Guazú reported 32 patients with dengue. Likewise, other districts accumulate cases, Juan León Mallorquín has 6 affected, while the others have between 1 to 2 positive cases.

This week, the work focused on the Amambay neighborhoods of Ciudad del Este and Caacupemà of Presidente Franco, with a view to eliminating breeding sites for Aedes aegypti and mitigating the impact of diseases such as dengue, Zika and chikungunya.

During the tours, the workers disseminate preventive methods, correct disposition of useful containers and the inactivation of other elements that may accumulate water.

According to Senepa, environmental mingas will be carried out periodically in different parts of the country, with the aim of protecting the health of the population. Within this framework, they continue to encourage getting rid of any object that can accumulate water. Also keep water tanks covered, use repellent and go to health services when symptoms appear, in order to avoid complications.
