The World Car Awards jury, representing 102 journalists from 33 countries, voted Luc Donckerwolke, executive vice president of design and creative director of Hyundai Motor Group, as “Person of the Year 2022”.
To be eligible, award nominees must have made a significant contribution to the global automotive industry over the period January 1 to December 31, 2021 (not limited to a market or region). Donckerwolke was chosen by the jury as he held the design responsibility for a number of highly innovative new models, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6, which were launched last year. Additionally, the he restomod Pony and Grandeur models paid homage to Korea’s great and often overlooked automotive heritage, says a press release released by the organization.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Person of the Year award,” said Donckerwolke.
