Public information shows that Yu Zhigang is 49 years old this year. He entered China University of Political Science and Law to teach in 2001, and was promoted to associate professor the following year. From 2004 to 2005, he went to Oxford University as a visiting scholar. In 2005, he was promoted to professor, and in 2006, he became a doctoral supervisor. .

In 2006, as a scholar, Yu Zhigang concurrently served as the deputy chief prosecutor of the Beijing Shunyi District Procuratorate. Since 2009, he has served as the vice president of the Graduate School of China University of Political Science and Law and the director of the Academic Affairs Office. In May 2015, he was appointed as the vice president of China University of Political Science and Law. Since March 2018, he has been a member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the Communist Party of China and a member of the Constitution and Law Committee.
