The 2024 Indonesia Badminton Masters tournament has officially started in Jakarta, Indonesia, with the Chinese team entering the competition with a semi-main lineup.
The national feather team members Shi Yuqi, Chen Yufei, Feng Yanzhe, and Huang Dongping all withdrew from the competition, and Liang Weikeng, Wang Chang, Chen Qingchen, and Jia Yifan did not register to participate.
In the qualifying matches, the Chinese mixed doubles pair He Jiting and Li Yijing lost to a Danish pair, while Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi advanced directly due to their opponent’s withdrawal. National badminton men’s singles player Lei Lanxi defeated Korean and Belgian players in the qualifying rounds to advance to the main draw.
The new national badminton team Xie Haonan and Zeng Weihan also achieved victory in the men’s doubles, defeating the Malaysian team in two games.
The Chinese team had further success in the first round of the competition, with He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu winning in the men’s doubles, and Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi coming back to win their match against a Danish combination. However, Chen Boyang and Liu Yi lost to the host combination from Indonesia.
In the women’s doubles, the national feather team of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning easily defeated their opponents from Chinese Taipei, while Li Yijing and Luo Xumin were unable to advance after losing to a Bulgarian combination.
The tournament is expected to continue with intense competition as players vie for the coveted title of Indonesia Badminton Master.
