Big bang in the 3rd league: FC Ingolstadt releases coach Michael Köllner with immediate effect. U19 head coach Sabrina Wittmann will take over the professional team until the end of the season.

FC Ingolstadt 04 and Michael Köllner are ending their collaboration with immediate effect. This decision was preceded by internal discussions and an in-depth situation analysis by those responsible with the outgoing trainer, as the club announced. The Schanzer are thus drawing conclusions from the negative development of sporting performance and results in the second half of the season so far. Most recently, FC Ingolstadt lost 2-0 at RW Essen. After the 35th matchday, the Schanzer are only in 11th place.

“There has been no further sporting development”

“After the further sporting development of our team, which is necessary to achieve our goals, has largely failed to materialize in 2024, we have come to the decision after a detailed analysis of the sporting content and discussions with Michael Köllner that we would like to take on the position of head coach for The 2024/25 season will have to make a change,” managing director Dietmar Beiersdorfer is quoted as saying in the statement. “Due to the clarity and responsibility towards the coach and the team, we are making this decision with immediate effect. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Köllner, who was able to give our club a lot of positive inspiration despite the recent lack of success.” , continued Beiersdorfer.
