Andrey Vatutin, president of CSKA Moscow, does not mince his words when speaking to Match TV of the chances of his team’s return to the Euroleague.
“At this moment, the fact that there are Russian teams participating in the top continental competition again is something that belongs to the world of science fiction, pure fantasy. There are no conditions to discuss it with other interested parties, not before the war ends.”
CSKA remains among the 13 clubs with an A license, and for this reason remains in constant contact with the top management of the organization and will be able to have its say on Dubai’s entry:
“I think it’s a possibility and that it would raise the level of the Euroleague. Dubai is a rich area, and it is also a huge market in Asia and the Middle East. It would allow us to attract new audiences and new markets. It’s a topic we will continue to talk about.”
“My colleagues from other clubs have expressed their sadness to me that the conditions for the Russian teams to return are not yet there. As partners of the organization, we stay in touch. There is constant communication and this is important, also thinking about when in the future our return will finally be possible.”
