Gold in football in Brazil
Brazil won the gold medal in the men’s soccer tournament. In the final at the International Stadium in Yokohama, Seleçao beat Spain 2-1 after extra time. In the first half, Brazil missed a penalty with Richarlison in the 38th minute. Cunha broke the deadlock in the 47th minute. In the second half Spain found a draw with Oyarzabal in the 61st minute. In extra time, the decisive goal of the Brazilians came in the 108th minute with Malcom.
In historic gold baseball for Japan
Japan’s historic first gold medal in baseball at the Olympics. In the final of the Tokyo 2020 tournament, the Japanese national team beat the all-time favorites United States with a score of 2-0. Bronze medal to the Dominican Republic, who beat South Korea 10-6 in the final for third place. Baseball was no longer an Olympic discipline in the 2012 and 2016 Games but was put back on the list this year.
