The technical director of the national athletics teams Antonio La Torre announced the blue team that will participate in the World Championships in Eugene (United States) from 15 to 24 July. The team is made up of 60 athletes, including 29 men and 31 women. The team includes six Tokyo Olympic champions: the gold of the 100 meters and the 4x100m Marcell Jacobs, the gold of the high jump Gianmarco Tamberi, the walker Massimo Stano who will compete in the 35 km and the relay runners Filippo Tortu (200 and 4×100 ), Fausto Desalu (200 and 4×100) and Lorenzo Patta (4×100). Among the Azzurri also the 4×400 Olympic finalists Davide Re, Edoardo Scotti and Vladimir Aceti, the triplist Andrea Dallavalle, the hedgerow Ahmed Abdelwahed, the weightlifter Nick Ponzio.
In the women’s team, also the indoor world finalists Elena Vallortigara (high) and Elisa Molinarolo (auction), the Italian record holders Sara Fantini (hammer), Roberta Bruni (auction), Zaynab Dosso (competing in the 100 and with the 4×100), Daisy Osakue (disc). Summon the hurdler Ayomide Folorunso (400hs-4×400), the middle-distance runners Elena Bellò (800) and Gaia Sabbatini (1500), the long-distance runner Larissa Iapichino. First call in the national team for the middle distance runner Sintayehu Vissa (1500) and for Alessandra Bonora (4×400).
