BOLOGNA
All easy for Mancini’s Italy: 4-0 to the Czech Republic. Test passed and the Azzurri ready for the European Championship. At Dall’Ara, exactly seven days from next Friday’s debut, the national team wins and has fun. All the forwards scored: Immobile in the first half, Insigne and Berardi in the second half. In the first 45 minutes the Barella network also arrives. And there is the debut of Raspadori. An Italy that likes, that plays well, that scores a lot and concedes little to the opponents. Positive feelings, even if now the level will rise and the Azzurri will have to give important answers on the pitch. The road, however, seems the right one and Mancini knows he has built a nice toy from the rubble that Ventura had left behind.
A few numbers: eighth win in a row without conceding any goals; 27th consecutive useful result for Mancini, only 3 races from Pozzo’s record. An important viaticum for the meeting in Rome against Turkey. It will certainly be a different race from last night’s, but this Italy gives guarantees and offers a show, especially in the second half. Quality, a lot, in the middle of the field, with Jorginho who dictates the rhythms and with Insigne who invents. All very nice.
Now, however, the time for friendlies is over. On 11 June, the game will have an enormous specific weight. Starting on the right foot, at home, is of fundamental importance for the journey in the itinerant event wanted by UEFA. Italy will have the opportunity to play all three group matches in Rome. An advantage to be exploited. But if this is the prelude, then Mancini can rest assured. The blues are there, mentally and physically. The countodown has begun.
The thing that makes us positive is that everything is inside the project, united, ready to give their best. A group in which everyone is rowing in the same direction. Perhaps this is the secret of a team that is making fans dream, still struggling with the pandemic. From Friday it gets serious.
