In the first period, Chlapík tied the score at 1:1, and at the end of the second half, he increased it to 4:1. At the same time, he did not do well against Vítkovice in the extra league and scored only one record in the seven previous matches.

“I knew it was no glory on my part against them. But I try to go into every match the same. And sometimes it falls there, sometimes it doesn’t. Every hockey player knows this. It is important that the line and the team do well. Now it falls to us, next time someone else will take it again – and that’s important,” explained the fourth most productive player of the extra league.

The Spartans, just like at home against Vítkovice and in Brno, conceded the first and had to turn the game around. And they did it again. “That’s our classic. We’re already used to it,” smiled the Guy. “We know that even though we get the first goal, nothing happens and we have to turn the game around,” praised Chlapík.

And he added that the well-being of the current table leader is not hampered by the absence of seven players (Mozík, Moravčík, Forman, Kestner, Lajunen, David Vitouch and the distanced defender Němeček). “We have guys out and we certainly miss them. But it’s nothing new. It’s about the older ones to play better and pull the team along,” pointed out Chlapík.

It was the experienced fighters who took care of the turnaround in Ostrava. The second period was the key to Sparta’s second win over Vítkovice in one week, in which Michal Kempný first put the guests in the lead with a shot from the blue line, then Vladimír Sobotka used a power play to make it 4:1 with Chlapík’s second goal of the game.

“In the second period, it clearly got away from us. We have a long-term problem with the middle part and we need to focus on that. It would probably be better to play it more defensively, but we were playing at home, we wanted to be active,” reflected the scorer of the opening goal of the game, Rastislav Dej from Vítkovice.

The longest-serving Slovakian hockey player in the extra league came up with a great action in the 7th minute, during which he first deprived defenseman Aaron Irving of the puck and stick at right defense, and then entered the competition for the golden helmet with an elegant finish from a wide angle on the front post of Josef Kořenář’s goal. “It’s just that it didn’t lead to any points, so I’m not that happy about it,” Dej sighed.

Vítkovice – Sparta, battle of Lakatoš with Hauser

Ostravné claimed at least a partial victory in a fist fight between Dominik Lakatoš and Petr Hauser at the very end of the match, which the home captain clearly won. The reduction of Petr Fridrich in the last minute did not bring any more drama.

“We needed to score that goal earlier and put Sparta under pressure. Maybe then we would tear ourselves and the audience down and we could do something about it. “We made them happy just by winning the third,” said Dej.
