TORTONA
The Bertram Tortona trains in the withdrawal of Sauze d’Oulx (To). Between athletic tests, first activities on the parquet and new faces, the Lions are preparing to face the first, historic season in the top flight. On Monday the transfer from Tortona to high ground: until 25 August the Lions will continue the preparation between physical tests and weights, during the morning hours, and training on the parquet in the afternoon. The players arrived in dribs and drabs in Tortona from the 10th to undergo visits and tests agreed with the medical-physical staff of the company, then the transfer to Val di Susa.
Three absent in retreat
There are three absent from the preseason retreat: Jamarr Sanders, still in America due to bureaucratic issues, Jalen Cannon, also in the US after contracting Covid and Joseph Mobio, engaged in the Ivory Coast rally in preparation for Afrobasket 2021 which will start next August 24th. Following these absences, in order to maintain the high quality of the training sessions in retirement, the company has aggregated three players for this initial phase of the season: Luca Campori, a guard born in 1999 who has returned from two seasons at Unieuro Forlì, Lazar Trunic, a Serbian guard. Italian formation born in 2000, in recent seasons at Vanoli Cremona and Matej Radunic, center born in 1996 who concluded 2020/21 at Fortitudo Roma (C gold) and who at the beginning of last season was aggregated to Unahotels Reggio Emilia for retirement preseason. The first scrimmage of the season is set for Saturday 28 August in Reggio Emilia against Unahotels, while on Wednesday 1 September, the Lions will be on the field of Openjobmetis Varese. After these two commitments, it will be time for the Super Cup, which will start on Monday 6 September in Trieste for the Bianconeri. The first, historic, top flight match will be at home, at the PalaFerraris in Casale, against Treviso (26 September); the first away on 3 October, on the floor of Germans Brescia. The big news of the season will be the asymmetric timetable each round of the season. –
