The starting quintet of the Oltrepadane, in their sixth consecutive A1 women’s championship, will be composed of Bestagno, Galbiati, Perisa, Dedic and Krivacevic. Elena Bestagno, 29, a former Vigarano, will be entrusted with the control room of the team. The Ligurian playmaker, who will play with the number 2 shirt, will also be able to take advantage of her long levers, given the 177 centimeters in height, quite atypical in that role. The titular guard is Virginia Galbiati, 28, who returns to Broni after 5 seasons: in 2016 she was one of the protagonists of the historic ride to the top flight and the conquest of the Italian Serie A2 cup. The Milanese will have the number 7 on her shoulders. The quintet is completed with the three foreigners. In place “3” as the small forward we find the Croatian Klaudija Perisa (jersey number 10), 24, from the German Bundesliga, where he closed last season with Saarlouis, after a brief experience in Spain. The strong forward will be his compatriot Nina Dedic (jersey number 9), 24, who comes from the Polish side of Sleza Wroclaw. Finally under the basket the Serbian pivot, with Hungarian passport, Tijana Krivacevic (chosen number 14), 31 years old, with a long international experience behind him, which hopefully can make a difference under the boards.
The young play Federica Mazza, 20, a recent winner with the under 20 national team of the Fiba European Challengers in Sofia, is ready to take over from the bench. Coach Castelli therefore relies on the changes of the pivot-winger Maria Giuseppone, 22, from Cestistica Spezzina; Serena Bona, same role, 32, from Bruschi San Giovanni Valdarno and to complete the roster of seniors the great winger Cecilia Albano, 25, already seen in the past in Castelnuovo Scrivia.
