Once the regular season has been archived, closed in eleventh place, Pf Broni 93 is preparing to play the first round of the play out to stay in A1. The first leg match is played on Saturday (4 pm), at PalaSerradimigni in Sassari against Dinamo, twelfth; the return leg is scheduled for Wednesday 21 April at PalaBrera (6 pm), while the eventual game 3, necessary only if the two teams have won one match each, is scheduled for Saturday 24, again at PalaBrera at 6 pm.
The federation and the women’s basketball league, in order to reduce travel, have decided to play the first match on the field of the worst ranked, in this case the Sardinians, the second and eventual third on the parquet of the best placed, that is Broni. Whoever wins two challenges will guarantee participation in the A1 2021/2022, while the loser will face the loser of the other Lucca-Battipaglia challenge. The first match between these two teams is scheduled for Saturday at 20.30 in Battipaglia, but uncertainty remains about the regular course, given that the Campania team has positivity at Covid and will hardly be able to appear on the field.
In any case, the two losers of Broni-Sassari and Lucca-Battipaglia will face each other in the second round, in which the further loser will be relegated to A2, together with the last Dondi Multistore Vigarano.
Victories in the archive
Broni won both regular season matches against Sassari, winning 61-81 on Matchday 11 in Sardinia and on Matchday 24 at PalaBrera 68-65. The two results, however, do not count because the girls of coach Antonello Restivo will sell their skin dearly, relying in particular on the three foreigners: the Slovak center-winger Michaela Fekete (10.3 points and 8.9 rebounds on average); American winger Sierra Calhoun (15.3 points per game) and Valentine Burke (21.9 points and 11.5 rebounds per game). Burke is also the top scorer in the A1 with 548 points in 25 games played, averaging 21.9 points. In Broni the three foreigners of Dinamo scored 60 of their team’s 65 points. Saturday’s match will be directed by Daniele Caruso from Milan, Valerio Salustri from Rome and Emanuela Tommasi from Palestrina (Rome).
As for the Scudetto playoffs, the Fila San Martino, given the cases of positivity, waived. So Schio should go straight to the semifinals. These are the other quarters. Tomorrow (7 pm): Empoli-Ragusa; Friday: Geas Sesto San Giovanni-Virtus Bologna (20); Costa Masnaga-Venice (20). –
