Not a symbolic intervention but a real cleaning that lasted 4 hours that left the coast free of any waste

CAGLIARI. On the occasion of the 28th edition of “Let’s Clean the World”, Cagliari Calcio and Legambiente Sardegna join forces and take the field together. Objective: to clean up one of the most characteristic places in the city, the coast of the Sant’Elia district, and raise awareness of respect for the environment.

The initiative falls within the scope of #BeAsOne – the ethical manifesto of the Club which aims to promote sustainable development in all aspects, environmental, economic and social – e Yout4thePlanet, the Legambiente project for the direct involvement of young people. The players of the Under 14 and Under 13 rossoblù teams, accompanied by their respective technicians and managers, led by the technical coordinator Oscar Erriu, met this afternoon 25 September on the Sant’Elia beach, the neighborhood that has hosted home games since 1970 of Cagliari, together with the volunteers of Legambiente. After an initial brief, protective gloves and bags in hand, the cleaning operations began: over fifty people involved to combat degradation and safeguard the territory.

It was not a symbolic intervention, but an effective contribution: in four hours of work, a stretch of waterfront was cleaned up and returned free of waste to the citizens.

After the signing of the memorandum of understanding, this is the first of a series of joint actions that will see Cagliari and Legambiente together at the forefront to sensitize and educate people on the importance of preserving the environment and adopting sustainable lifestyles. For this reason, for example, specific meetings on the subject are scheduled for the entire 2021-22 season, which will see the participation of the youngsters from the rossoblù youth sector.
