The big canoe returns to Ivrea. This weekend a national Junior and Senior competition will be held at the Stadio della canoa eporediese (Saturday) and the Italian Senior Championship and the Italian Extreme Senior Championship (Sunday).
The organization is organized by the Ivrea canoe club, with the classic departure from the “Pontetto” and arrival at the “Ruins of the Roman Bridge” for a length of about two hundred and twenty meters and a difficulty of third and fourth degree.
As regards the Junior and Senior national test, the male and female junior and senior categories are foreseen, individual and team competitions K1, C1 and C2; for the mixed junior and senior categories in the water the C2 individual and team competition. The program foresees the first heat at 10.30, then at 14.30, the second heat which will be followed by the team competition. The list of entrants to the Italian Senior Championship is of absolute value, a race that will assign the tricolor titles on Sunday 29 August, at the starting line the veterans from the recent Under 23 European Championships held in Slovenia, then all the athletes returned from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Stefanie Horn , Giovanni De Gennaro and Marta Bertoncelli, to which must be added all the other specialists at national level. In the water the same categories on Saturday will compete for the Italian title with the program that includes the first qualifying heat at 9.30, followed by the second qualifying heat, then the final, and again, at 14, the race will start in teams.
In the late afternoon in the water the athletes who will play the Italian extreme slalom championship, with the athlete of the Ivrea canoa club, Lorand Gjoshi, who will defend the title won in the last edition. The male and female senior extreme slalom cross K1 categories will be on stage, starting at 3.30 pm with round of 16, quarter-finals, semifinal and final.
The Ivrea canoa club will take to the water with all its best athletes. If in K1 team men it is difficult for the Ivrea team to win against the fierce representatives of the Carabinieri and the Navy, excellent chances present themselves instead for the K1 women’s team, Erica Piatti, Lucia Pistoni and Carolina Massarenti, already holder of the 2020 absolute title. and Under 23 2021. Some surprises could also arise from the C1 specialty teams in which the Ivrea canoa club is expressing excellent individuality. Some C2 crews are also in the water looking for confirmation of the 2020 title won by the duo Matteo Cerrano and Simone Marchegiano.
