The dream in the drawer of Chiara Melon from Vigevano could soon become reality. The 21-year-old ducal sprinter of Atletica Brescia has the aspiration to participate in the Olympics and the recent convocation in the absolute national team as a reserve from the blue 4×100 relay could be the right witness for the journey of a lifetime. Chiara has just returned from the relay world championships, in Chorzow in Poland, with a wealth of considerable experience and unique emotions. She was part of the blue team training with her teammates and cementing the friendship. Although not competing, Melon has also contributed to the splendid gold won by the Italian 4 x 100 the work done in training.
“Chiara will be able to play her cards to go to Tokyo – underlines the federal councilor of Vigevano Oscar Campari – surely she and her coach Fabio Sangermani, who are preparing for the Dante Merlo stadium, will try to the last”.
The blue experience
Meanwhile, the young sprinter is satisfied. «Great experience in Poland – he says – the sensations were already very good during the meeting, there was already a lot of energy and determination for the relay world championships. The blue one is a stimulating environment that helps to grow and I am very happy to have been part of it ». For Melon it was not his debut with the absolute national team. «I had already participated in a meeting in March two years ago and in another one at the beginning of last April – explains the 21-year-old ducal – participation in the relay world championships was instead my first ever presence in the national team. A great emotion, also because wearing the blue shirt is an honor for me ».
The future is on his side. Although still part of the promising category, Melon has already participated in the World Series and was on the third step of the podium in the absolute 60 meters of the absolute Italian indoor championships. «At the relay world championships I felt part of a very close-knit group – he underlines – my dream is perhaps better not to say it out loud, since I am superstitious. Now we go back to work and to do our utmost to make it happen ». Chiara, meanwhile, won the 200 meters in the Bracco meeting in Milan with a time of 23 ”96. On Thursday he will participate, in the 100 meters, in the important meeting in Savona. Without, however, forgetting the study: «I am enrolled at the University of Novara, second year of Medicine – he specifies – for now I am on par with the exams and in the next session I will support Physiology II and Biochemistry II. Unfortunately, the dates of the exams are often close to the important competitions, but I try to organize myself as far as possible, because Medicine is a faculty that fascinates me and commits me so much ». –
