The Cortinese and Trentino regions also overtook Denmark and Estonia. Only Switzerland remains in the lead in the group. Tuesday the challenge with the fearsome Sweden
GENEVA
Full points, despite last night’s match against Estonia was really one step away from getting out of hand. It is therefore always Italy show at the mixed doubles curling world championship, which is taking place in Geneva. The blue couple signed by Stefania Constantini from Cortina and Sebastiano Arman from Trentino beat the Estonian national team and previously the Danish one, approaching qualification to the knockout phase.
We remind you that the twenty teams participating in this Swiss world championship are divided into two groups. The first classified go directly to the semifinals, while the runners-up and thirds will face each other in a cross playoff. And the clear path of five statements in a row is clear that it almost tastes like it is now in your pocket.
Perhaps the decisive step could already be taken on Tuesday, in the early afternoon match against the fearsome Sweden, whose momentary partial is three wins and two defeats. In the ranking, Switzerland is following Italy more closely, with only one knockout so far.
Returning to yesterday’s commitments, against Denmark it was almost a real domination of our couple, trained by the Auronzana Violetta Caldart together with Claudio Pescia. An excellent start to the game for Constantini and Arman, skilled in immediately signing two points in the first end of the match. The Danes shorten immediately, with our Stefania good at limiting the damage in a second end that was slightly complicated. In the third end the athlete of the Fiamme Oro scores a two-point shot (4-1). From there there is almost no more history, until the final 8-3.
Even against Estonia, the Italians seem to be in control. But at 6-1, the sixth end sees the Nordic national team capable of placing four points with a class play. From there, therefore, a very hard-fought and uncertain match develops, but managed well by the Azzurri in the key phases. And the final 9-7 certifies yet another afternoon to remember.
