Constantini on track at the World Championships: “I always think back to Beijing, but I’m concentrated”

His teammate has changed, not the enthusiasm and desire to achieve another important result after the Olympic gold in Beijing. Stefania Constantini speaks on the eve of the mixed doubles world championship, scheduled for tomorrow in Geneva. You will not have Amos Mosaner next to you, stopped by a muscle tear, but Sebastiano Arman also has a lot of quality and experience.

The Cortinese and Trentino players will be involved in the intercontinental event where they will make their debut against Japan and New Zealand. The remaining matches in Group A will be against South Korea, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and Finland. The first classified goes to the semifinals, second and third will give life to the playoff crossed with the other grouping. The duo is always coached by the Auronzana Violetta Caldart, assisted by Claudio Pescia.

An ugly tile …

«Unfortunately Amos had this problem, but I’m still happy to play with Sebastiano because he’s strong. It will be our debut in doubles, therefore we are both curious to understand how he will go ».

What hierarchies will there be, perhaps related to the Olympics?

«I repeat that in mixed doubles there is greater balance between one team and another, perhaps compared to traditional curling. Therefore, very balanced challenges can always emerge, with an uncertain forecast. Without a doubt, however, in our very strong group there are Switzerland and Sweden, if we really want to indicate a couple ».

Now more than two months after the Olympic gold, what is your mood instead?

«The emotion remains the same, if I think about it. Indeed, I do not think I have fully realized the importance of the result achieved together with Amos. In this period we continue to receive invitations for various awards, I had the honor of meeting the president Sergio Mattarella, the chief of police and so on. Numerous good experiences, but my head is still focused on this sporting season. Many things have changed in a few months, because my own career is different: with the entry into the sports group of the Fiamme Oro now I can make curling my job. Now, however, I’m just thinking about getting the best possible result in the world championship ».
