UDINE. The Friuli stadium is available again for 18,850 spectators, the Carnera stadium for 2,100. This is the effect in Udine of the Chamber’s approval of the Covid decree of the Council of Ministers which provides for the restoration of the previous capacities and therefore 75 per cent for stadiums and 60 per cent for sports buildings.
“Now it will be enough to wait for the publication in the Official Gazette, an operation that should not take more than two days,” said the Undersecretary for Sport, Valentina Vezzali. Already this weekend, therefore, the number of spectators who will potentially be able to attend the matches in Serie A of football and basketball, again to mention two disciplines of the top flight in which the city of Udine is interested.
The goal is to proceed step by step and reach, after the end of the state of emergency set for 31 March, 100 percent of the capacity of the facilities, even if there is no lack of “thrusts” considering that the national championships and international competitions hosted key moments will be experienced in our country in the next 40 days.
For a few days, for example, the president of the Football Association, Gabriele Gravina, has been asking the government to immediately return to 100 percent of the available seats: “75 is already a step forward, but I hope that, given the involution of the pandemic, the limitations can be removed as early as the end of February “. In short, with a month in advance, compared to the programs.
But at the level of political debate there are those who wonder why not to equate sports halls with stadiums. “Considering the downward parameters of the epidemiological curve of the virus and its changed resurgence, we should reconsider the capacity of indoor sports facilities, equating it to outdoor ones,” says Daniela Sbrollini, senator and head of Sport for Italia Viva.
“Ending the season with 100 percent capacity even in indoor facilities would be an important signal for all high-level clubs as well as for amateur ones”.
