Covid, Rt Italia index slightly up. The ISS data: 4 moderate risk regions

by admin

Rome, 22 October 2021 – A slight trend reversal – not alarming for now – in the trend of Covid in Italy. To certify it is the weekly monitoring Iss-ministry of health, of which he filters the draft, after the indications arrived from yesterday’s Gimbe report. All data are being examined in the control room.

Rt index and incidence

L’index Rt is slightly increasing in Italy: in the period 29 September – 12 October 2021 it stood at 0.86 (range 0.82 – 0.90), against 0.85 in the previous week where the value was already rising compared to the one even before (0.83 ). The incidenza weekly of Coronavirus cases at national level calculated as of yesterday (reference period 15/10/2021 -21/10/2021): it stands at 34 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants against 27 last week.

Regions

The regions with the highest incidence are the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (85.6), Friuli Venezia Giulia (51.7) and Veneto (48.3). The national value of 34 is below the weekly threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 which allows the control of transmissions with tracking.

Compared to the previous week, the Regions classified as “moderate risk” increased from 3 to 4. I am Abruzzo, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Piedmont. The remaining 17 Regions / Autonomous Provinces are classified as low risk. One Region, Campania, reports aalert of resilience, or rather on the ability to cope

Hospitals

The ISS data, however, are not, for the moment, alarming. Continue decreasing the employment rate of Covid patients in Italian hospitals: in intensive care it drops to 3.9% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 19/10/2021) compared to 4.1 the previous week, with a slight decrease in the number of people hospitalized by 370 (12/10/2021 ) to 355 (19/10/2021). Employment in medical areas still drops to 4.2% from 4.6. The number of people hospitalized in these areas decreased from 2,665 (12/10/2021) to 2,423 (19/10/2021).

Tracking

First alarm bells also for the tracing of the virus. The number of new cases not associated with transmission chains is increasing (4,759 vs 4,551 the previous week). The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activity is instead slightly down (33% vs 34% last week). There is also a slight increase in the percentage of cases detected through the appearance of symptoms (48% vs 47%), while the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening remains stable (19% vs 19%).
