CVK stands out in the second stage of the Ilca Class Italian Cup

The second stage of the event took place in Civitanova MarcheItalia Cup Ilca class 2024. After the first stage held in Marina di Ragusa, the regatta, open only to sailors qualified in the Interzonal phases, took place over three days, all strongly influenced by variable weather with difficult conditions.

As a result, the number of tests held was heavily reduced: in practice, only two tests at the end of the three days. The Kaucana Sailing Club participated in the challenging trip with 7 qualified athletes, confirming itself as one of the largest contingents of the Ilca 4 fleet. The almost 400 sailors from all over Italy nevertheless gave a beautiful sporting spectacle and the athletes of the Kaucana Sailing Club achieved very respectable results on which the first place for U16 women by the very young Gilda Nasti while excellent placings were recorded for all the other athletes.

In addition to Gilda Nasti, the CVK fleet was also made up of Paolo Salvo, Gianmarco and Damino Livoti, Lucrezia Micieli, Matteo Di Dio, Alessia Alfano; only concurrent school commitments did not allow the participation, although qualified, of the other two athletes Brian Sciveres and Felicia Prestana. Gilda Nasti, born in 2009, coming from Catania and joining the Kaucana Sailing Club since the current competitive season, following the good results obtained in both the Marina di Ragusa and Civitanova regattas, leads the U16 women’s national ranking with a notable gap with 71 points, followed by Martina Volpicella, from the Circolo della Vela di Bari with 118.

Also noteworthy is the good placing of the athlete Paolo Salvo who, after the second stage, occupies the sixth position overall in the national ranking. The two athletes are already in the eye of the Italian Sailing Federation and, following the test, they also received the convening of the Fiv youth technical management for participation, from 21 to 23 March 2024, in a meeting that will take place in Malcesine on Lake Garda with the federal coach Fabio Zeni.

Paolo Salvo and Gilda Nasti, together with the other two athletes of the Kaucana Sailing Club Gianmarco Livoti and Lucrezia Micieli also obtained the pass for participation in the Ilca 4 European youth championships which will take place in Izola, Slovenia, from 5 to 12 April. At CVK, after years of work to spread the love for the sea and sailing among the youngest, the fruits are starting to be reaped also thanks to a first-rate technical staff coordinated by Giovanni Magliulo, third-rate FIV instructor level and also composed of instructors Peppe Terrana and Antony Mormina who take care of the youngest athletes of the Optimist class and the sailing game activities.

The Kaucana Sailing Club is already preparing for the next summer season.
