Cycling, GP Morbihan, Viviani third in the sprint: ‘Lost opportunity “

The eighth victory of the season was just around the corner. Elia Viviani threw himself into the fray of the sprint at Grand-Champ, finish line of the 31st edition of the GP du Morbihan (177 km) and finished third. “A lost opportunity, because if I had started a second earlier I would have had a very good chance of winning, but in the sprint it can happen”. Success, the first of his career, for Arne Marit, 22-year-old Belgian from Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, with Coquard in second place. The female test, on the other hand, smiled at Italy: thanks to Chiara Consonni, of Valcar-Travel & Service, who beat Dutch Kool and Silvia Zanardi in the sprint. Both Viviani and Consonni, who is the sister of the Olympian of the Simone quartet, will be on stage from next Wednesday in Roubaix, also in France, at the Track World Championships. For Viviani on Sunday the last engagement of the season with the Cofidis on the road (from 2022 Ineos-Grenadiers awaits him): Boucles de l’Aulne-Châteaulin, albeit on a more demanding path than on Saturday.
