In the 2023-2024 season, setter Ding Xia joined the Police Chemical Women’s Volleyball Team in Poland to compete in the Polish Super League, and won two championships with the team in her first overseas season. After finishing studying abroad in late April, Ding Xia rushed back to China from Poland and went straight to the Zhangzhou base in Fujian to join the Chinese women’s volleyball team for training. Yesterday, she went to Brazil with the team to start the journey of the 2024 World Women’s Volleyball League. As a 34-year-old veteran, Ding Xia still has a sense of responsibility and mission in her heart.
Among the 16 players of the Chinese women’s volleyball team participating in the first week of this year’s World Women’s Volleyball League, including 4 2016 Rio Olympic champions, Ding Xia is one of them. She is looking forward to stepping onto the Olympics for the third time this year.
“After returning from Poland, I rushed to the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team to report. I still want to keep up with the team’s rhythm as soon as possible. I feel very good now. The training atmosphere of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team is very good, especially since there are many young and energetic players, and everyone is very hardworking,” Ding Xia said. “This year we must first qualify for the Paris Olympics, and secondly, perform to our own level at the Paris Olympics. I can feel that everyone is working hard for this goal in every training.”
Ding Xia said that the Chinese women’s volleyball team members must have their motherland in mind and show their fighting spirit on the court, not only to show the spirit of the women’s volleyball team but also to show the face of the country. “So we should fight for every ball on the court and do our best without any regrets.”
