Does Walloon cooperation open the door to the merger of indoor football associations?

Futsal

After decades of bickering, will there be a merger between futsal in the KBVB and indoor football in the BZVB? The Walloon wings ACFF (KBVB) and LFFS (BZVB) signed an agreement to work together from the 2025-2026 season – and for at least five seasons.

In concrete terms, the LFFS will organize the provincial and interprovincial competitions within the KBVB structure. There is currently no more provincial competition in Wallonia within the KBVB. Due to the shift in the provincial series – with dozens of clubs – there is again a futsal pyramid within the KBVB where advancement is possible. There will also be an impact on the national competition within the KBVB. For example, Walloon clubs in the national BZVB competition must indicate whether they want to stay or transfer to the KBVB at the same level. The KBVB takes into account an influx from the 2025-2026 season and therefore (temporarily or otherwise) larger national series. In the meantime, informal discussions would also take place between the VZVB (BZVB) and Voetbal Vlaanderen (KBVB), which has been reaching out for some time. Does common sense also prevail in Flanders? Then a merger between the largest Belgian indoor football associations seems like a matter of time. (jotr)
