Li Xuanhao Wins First Career World Series Championship in “Dream Lily Cup World Go Open”

On May 4, the fifth round of the fifth “Dream Lily Cup World Go Open” concluded at the Kaiyuan Mingdu Hotel in Rugao, Jiangsu, with mainland Chinese chess player Li Xuanhao claiming the 9th Dan title. Li Xuanhao defeated his teammate Dang Yifei Jiudan with a total score of 3-1, securing his first career World Series championship.

In the past matches between the two players, Dang Yifei had the upper hand with 13 wins and 11 losses. However, in this year’s tournament, Li Xuanhao showcased exceptional skills and determination, ultimately emerging victorious in the finals.

The first game of the final saw Li Xuanhao taking the lead with black, strategically outplaying Dang Yifei. Despite initial advantages for the opponent, Li Xuanhao executed flawless moves and secured a win, setting the tone for the rest of the series.

In the subsequent games, Li Xuanhao continued to dominate, showcasing his tactical prowess and intelligence on the board. Despite a slight setback in the third game, Li Xuanhao bounced back in the fourth game, ultimately clinching the championship with a total score of 3-1.

The victory was particularly meaningful for Li Xuanhao as he dedicated the win to his wife, whose birthday coincided with the championship day. The 29-year-old player attributed his success to rigorous training and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in honing his skills.

With Chinese players consistently achieving top results in the “Dream Lily Cup,” the tournament has become a platform for showcasing the country’s prowess in the game of Go. The event, hosted by the Chinese Go Association, follows Chinese Go rules and offers substantial prize money to the winners.
