Dustin Johnson will likely remember his second LIV victory. With Branden Grace and Cameron Smith, the three players battled to decide the winner in Tulsa. Well placed since day one, Cameron Smith finished the tournament in cannonball with a card of 61 (9 birdies). At -17 total, the Australian thought he had won.
However, he was joined in the lead by a still clean Branden Grace (5 birdies, no fouls and only two bogeys conceded since Friday) and by a determined Dustin Johnson. The American scared himself with this triple bogey at 10 before reviving and grabbing the play-off thanks to a birdie at 18 (his sixth of the day). Riding on his good momentum, the captain of the 4Aces GC team again birdied at 18, while his opponents remained in par.
Koepka in the top 10, Mickelson barely, Stinger GC at the party
Out of the top 10 before starting this third round, Harold Varner III made a superb comeback thanks to a final record of 61 (2 eagles, 6 birdies, 1 bogey). The 32-year-old takes 4th place (-13 total). The 5th rank (-12 total) is occupied by a trio composed of Eugenio Chacarra, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.
Three other golfers share the 8th position (-11 total). We find Dean Burmester, Joaquin Niemann and Bubba Watson. Third Saturday evening, the latter had a more complicated Sunday, concluded in 69 shots (4 birdies, 1 bogey, 1 double bogey at hole number 17). In difficulty throughout the tournament, Phil Mickelson ended with a card in par (4 birdies, 4 bogeys), in 45th place (by total).
At team level, Stinger GC wins (-40), for the first time since the LIV opening tournament held in London in June 2022, with a lead over 4Aces GC (-39) and five over RangeGoats GC (-35).
