No left-hand traffic at the European Championships: Harry Kane already knows this from Munich

The English national team is spending the European Football Championship in Thuringia. So that the players feel at home, the entourage travels with three of their own smells. But are the officially named scents really the right ones?

My home is my castle. The English national team is doing everything it can to make it feel at home at the European Football Championship. Since it is obviously impossible to introduce left-hand traffic and red double-decker buses in Thuringia in the summer, the team managers are resorting to other means. The smell of home should waft through the team hotel in Blankenhain.

According to the Daily Mail, Harry Kane and Co. are enchanted with three different scents that remind them of the island. In the hotel, a “fresh scent of jasmine and lily” should make it clear that you are “in a high-end space”. In the fitness rooms, an energetic scent animates the players, and in the rooms, lavender is said to ensure relaxation.

It is not yet entirely clear whether the officially stated scents are the actual ones wafting through the training camp or whether they are just an olfactory smoke candle from the press department.

Cheddar flavors in the fitness room

Because if the players really want to feel at home, the fragrance managers obviously have to pack completely different scents. Just a hint of baked beans combined with an essence of stale beer can waft through the dining room. In their rooms, Kane, Jude Bellingham and their colleagues are supposed to take a sniff of fish and chips fried in old fat before falling asleep, and in the fitness room only the aroma of cheddar can drive the players to peak performance

So that would be resolved. But one question still remains: What does an unfortunate elimination from the European Championship after a penalty shootout actually smell like?
