First arrival for APU Udine: Mian signs a three-year contract, the next will be Cusin

The small forward returns to Friuli after the experience in Trieste. There will not be a US pivot, near the agreement with the long outgoing from Cantù

UDINE. IS Fabio Mian the first new face of the Apu Old Wild West 2022-’23. The small forward of Moraro, born in 1992, has signed a three-year contract and returns to Juventus after the parenthesis of the play-offs in 2021.

A “zero kilometer” reinforcement for Matteo Boniciolli’s team, which could lead the way for another graft with the “Friuli doc” stamp: it is in fact close Marco Cusinborn in 1985 who has just finished his experience in Cantù.

After two years of unsuccessful “bets” in the role of small forward, therefore, the APU is back and has decided to invest in the talent of Mian, a player who grew up among the youth teams of Asar Romans and CBU Udine. In 2009 the leap to Serie A with Varese, then experiences in Bari, Agrigento, Cremona, Pistoia, Trento, Cremona and Trieste again, with the brief interlude in Udine already mentioned. For Mian, the last season tells of 7.3 points per game with 42.5% from two and 35.8% from three in the top flight with Allianz Trieste. Able to play both as a guard and as a small forward, Mian has excellent athletic skills and a great shot from outside.

Moving from the perimeter to the “painted”, however, the change of direction for the US couple, which this year does not include a stars and stripes center, creates the conditions for an all-Italian long battery. With “Ciccio” Pellegrino confirmed after a very positive season, here is the other “made in Friuli” idea: focusing on centimeters (211, to be precise) and on the experience of Marco Cusin.
