Halleschen FC’s race to catch up in the 3rd league with two recent wins has come to an abrupt halt. Despite a long period of superiority, the HFC lost against Unterhaching on Sunday. This means the descent is getting closer.
Third division Dino Hallescher FC has suffered a potentially decisive setback in the fight to stay in the league. On Sunday (May 5th) the HFC lost to the Unterhaching game association 0-1 despite many shots on goal. Stefan Reisinger’s team therefore failed to put their rival Mannheim under pressure. The Waldhöfer are still one point ahead and have the better goal difference. They will also face FC Ingolstadt at 7:30 p.m. and can score points themselves. After that there are only two match days left.

Against a severely weakened Unterhachinger team, the hosts left no doubt right from the start as to who should leave the field as the winner. Stefan Reisinger’s team, who began his coaching career in the guests’ youth team, didn’t let anything go wrong at the back and kept launching new attacks. The score on goal after more than half an hour was 11:1. The drawback: The HFC simply didn’t want to score a goal. There weren’t a lot of great chances, but it still should have been enough for a 1-0 or 2-0.
The punch was missing before the break
Keeper René Vollath reacted brilliantly to Meris Skenderovic’s 18-meter blast (15th), and Vollath successfully assisted defender Raphael Schifferl on Julian Eitschberger’s shot by saving next to the goalkeeper in the five-yard box (31st). And after a nice move down the right, Tunay Deniz aimed a bit too high (33′).
The HFC, here Tom Baumgart (right) against Dennis Waidner, had the game under control for a long time.
Baumann missed the huge opportunity
Initially nothing changed in the second section. The HFC started running. The best chance came after a great combination and great preparatory work by future Dresden player Aljaz Casar: He played to the free Dominic Baumann on the right, but the recently unlucky goal-getter was denied by Vollath (56′). Coach Reisinger even replaced him later.
Hobsch hit the mark with HFC
The offensively reserved guests did it better for seven minutes: a through pass from U20 junior national player Maurice Krattenmacher landed at Patrick Hobsch, and the son of ex-Bundesliga striker Bernd beat HFC goalkeeper Sven Müller (63′). The result turned the game on its head. The score on goal in the 73rd minute was 22:5.
Halle didn’t really recover from the shock. The equalizer was only in the air once, but Skenderovic couldn’t get enough pressure behind the ball at the far post and the ball went just past the right (84th).
Now Halle has to keep its fingers crossed for FC Ingolstadt. The Saalestadt team will still face Bielefeld and Borussia Dortmund II.
