Formula 1 is not calming down. After Lewis Hamilton’s mega move to Ferrari, all eyes are now on Red Bull. Internal investigations are underway against team boss Christian Horner – the 50-year-old is fighting for his future in the premier class of motorsport.

Red Bull is investigating allegations against its Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner of inappropriate behavior. Horner is said to have sent cross-border photos to an employee. The English “Daily Mail” quotes a source from the Red Bull environment who speaks of “incredibly controlling behavior”.

As a Red Bull spokesperson said on Monday, the company “has launched an independent investigation. This investigation, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist lawyer. The company takes these matters very seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as possible.” BILD reported that the internal investigation has been ongoing for weeks – and has only now been leaked.

According to information from “F1-insider.com”, rumors arose about Horner’s misconduct on the sidelines of the Ski World Cup in Kitzbühel (January 15th to 21st). Various Formula 1 personalities were guests at the legendary Hahnenkamm race on the Streif, including Horner, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, McLaren CEO Zak Brown as well as Silver Arrows driver George Russell and ex-driver Sebastian Vettel.

Red Bull has “no further comment”.

Horner completely denied the allegations, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The newspaper first reported on the case and, according to its own account, relies on several sources. The Red Bull spokesman further stated that it would not be appropriate “to make any further comment at this time.” The company did not comment specifically on the allegations against Horner.

The allegations come at an inopportune time for Red Bull. On Thursday next week, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s racing team plans to present the car for the new season. This year’s test drives will take place in Sakhir (Bahrain) between February 21st and 23rd.
