“Mom, when I get back from Tokyo I’ll bring you at least one medal.” As a model daughter, it’s not bad, given that when she still misses the 50 butterfly on Friday Giulia Terzi is already at four podiums among the S7, with two golds and two silvers to pack. And, if we want to be honest, the loot doubles if we also count those of the aquatic boyfriend, Stefano Raimondi, who responds blow for blow in terms of medals: perfect parity in numerical terms, even if Giulia’s metals shine more than those of the 23 year old from Veneto (1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze). «But it’s not a competition between us – she exclaims bursting out laughing -. But, in fact, we have a nice collection ».
The podium couple of blue swimming is the beautiful revelation of this Paralympics, in which the blue tide is overwhelming the medal table. Galeotto was the collegiate at the Federal Center of Ostia in August 2019, but here the 26-year-old from Arzago d’Adda does not send them to say: “He had been aiming for me for a while, but I didn’t give him much rope”. But then the spark took off, despite the kilometers separating them. “He lives in Bonaldo di Zimella, near Verona where he trains, I shuttle between Milan and Bergamo – explains Giulia -. We always see each other on the weekend, when Saturday’s training ends ». However, the first year of their relationship was not easy due to the outbreak of the pandemic, which kept them away for over two months.
Giulia began to swim following the strokes of her mother Stefania, a former agonist, while now she often leans on Stefano: «Having him by my side here in Tokyo is an extra boost». –
