The baby players “dance” on the field and cheer at every goal, but at the same time they return to raise the cups to the sky after the long lockdown period that forced them to stay away from the green rectangle for too many months. To give again the joy of being together and fighting to win but also knowing how to accept defeat and congratulate the opponent who was better than the first real tournament organized in Salerno: it is San Vito – la beginners category dedicated to little Antonio Morriello (also present the parents who were given a plaque) – which took place, as for twenty-one years now, in San Gregorio Magno as part of the celebrations for the Saint to which the whole Gregorian community is deeply linked. The event, organized by the “Leoncini Gregoriani” Football School and duly authorized by the FIGC – Youth and School Sector – Campania Regional Committee, was attended by the hosts: “A. Palomonte ”, Buccino Volcei, All Stars United of Maratea, Likos Potenza, Cilento Academy, Polisportiva Alto Bradano of Genzano di Lucania, Asd Battipaglia, Spes Battipaglia,“ Luca Fusco ”, Sporting Club Picentia, Sport House and Ludisport Campagna. Committed to finally give each other battle to bring home the victory the young athletes of the categories ranging from Giovanissimi to Primi Calci. And to triumph at the end of all tight matches but with the utmost respect for mutual fair play were: in the Giovanissimi category the Cilento Academy, in the Beginners 2008 category the Sport House, in the Beginners 2009 category Likos Potenza, in the Chicks category 2010: Sporting Club Picentia, in the 2011 Chicks category the “Gregorian Lions, in the Piccoli Amici 2012 and Primi Calci 2014 categories the Spes Battipaglia. Vito satisfied with the success of the tournament Angelicchio who always guides the little ones of the “Leoncini Gregoriani”: «We have made a lot of efforts to get the children back on the field for the“ San Vito ”tournament and we have once again succeeded. It was not easy to organize everything even in compliance with the necessary health precautionary rules but we succeeded, also with the collaboration of the Municipality, because seeing the baby footballers running after a ball again means returning to life ». Finally, so many smiles, but not only from the little ones: «Even the parents – reveals Angelicchio – were complimented by the organization and above all they accompanied with participation, I had never heard it in these terms, the games of the budding champions. We strongly wanted this day – he concludes – to revive those values that have always distinguished us: knowledge, socialization, playful aspects and the exchange of different sports experiences ».
