Somewhere between the 10,000 or so visitors who came to the Hertha BSC season opening on this cloudy July day at the Olympic site, Kay Bernstein is walking around, wearing sunglasses and a blue training jacket.
The club’s president shakes hands, chats and poses for photos with anyone who wants one. That’s a lot on this day. Bernstein is a man of the people, unlike the presidents before him. As a young man, he himself regularly stood in the curve of the Olympic Stadium.
