Marcus Stroman, new starter for the New York Yankees, gave a virtual press conference this Thursday in which he made several points clear after becoming Gerrit Cole’s sidekick in manager Aaron Boone’s rotation.
One of the controversial points that has filled the media since his signing for two seasons and 37 million dollars was reported is his relationship with Juan Soto, which was not very friendly after his recent falls in the MLB.
“I think we have the material to play in the playoffs in October. I think Juan Soto. He is the best hitter in baseball. He and Aaron Judge. They are the best hitters in the MLB. I have faced many players during my career, but I always say that Juan Soto is the best. He has great knowledge of the strike zone. He is incredible,” Stroman said.
Soto has just agreed for $31 million in his last year of salary arbitration, being the most lucrative contract in this instance in history. He won the Silver Bat last season after posting averages of .275 / .410 / .519, 32 doubles, 35 home runs, 109 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 132 walks negotiated, leading the National League.
“I’m excited to be a Yankee. I like challenges and I’m prepared,” Stroman said.
