Shi Yuqi, Chen Yufei and Others Advance to Quarter-Finals of All England Championship

The Chinese badminton team had a successful day on March 15th at the 1/8 finals of the 2024 All England Badminton Open, with several players advancing to the next round. Among those who made it through were Shi Yuqi, Chen Yufei, Zhang Shuxian/Zheng Yu, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, and Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping.

In the men’s singles category, second seed Shi Yuqi made quick work of Indonesian player Ziko, winning 2:0 in just 39 minutes. He will now face another Indonesian player, Jonatan, in the next round. Unfortunately, Weng Hongyang was eliminated after losing to Danish star Viktor Axelsen.

On the women’s side, second seed Chen Yufei defeated Thai player Busanglan in straight games to move on to face Spanish star Marin in the next round. Other Chinese female players such as He Bingjiao and Han Yue also secured wins to progress in the tournament, while Wang Zhiyi was knocked out by Marin.

In the doubles events, Ren Xiangyu/He Jiting, Zhang Shuxian/Zheng Yu, and the mixed doubles pairs Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong and Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping all advanced to the quarter-finals.

However, not all Chinese players had a successful day as Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan and Liang Wei-keng/Wang Chang were both eliminated from the tournament. Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan struggled with injuries, affecting their performance on the court.

Overall, the Chinese team had a strong showing at the All England Championship, with several players poised to make a deep run in the tournament. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next round to see how the Chinese contingent will fare against their competitors.
