Fujian Province Takes Steps to Support Retired Athletes and Enhance Sports Talent Development
In a recent announcement from the Fujian Provincial Department of Finance and the Sports Bureau, subsidies will be provided to units (such as schools) that accept retired athletes as coaches in the province. The document, titled “Implementation Measures for Placement of Retired Athletes and Training Equipment Subsidies”, aims to support retired athletes and promote the overall quality of athletes.
One key focus of the initiative is the leadership of party building within sports teams. The Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau has implemented measures to strengthen party building, including establishing party branches within sports teams and introducing a linking and pairing system to integrate outstanding talents with the party organization.
Additionally, cultural education for athletes is being emphasized, with a set number of hours dedicated to cultural study throughout the year and services provided to enhance cultural education.
To address concerns of sports talents, the province is increasing policy support for athletes, including inclusion in talent introduction catalogs and preferential policies for high-level athletes and coaches. Furthermore, recognition and incentives for outstanding athletes and coaches are being expanded, with rewards for achievements and performance bonuses.
System construction is also being strengthened to ensure athlete protection and development. Efforts are being made to promote retired athletes to teach in schools through the establishment of coaching positions. Insurance programs and care funds have been introduced to provide financial protection for athletes, and services for athletes’ employment and entrepreneurship are being enhanced to help them transition into new careers.
The measures taken by the Fujian Provincial Department of Finance and the Sports Bureau demonstrate a commitment to supporting retired athletes and nurturing sports talent in the province.
