Second weekend in April with the resumption of competitive activity for the Giuseppe Delfino Ivrea fencing club. On the platforms of the Le Cupole building in Turin, the Ivrea swordsmen bring home a respectable loot and placements close to the podium as never happened in recent years. Five podiums, of which one gold and four bronzes and as many five placements in the final poules.

The Piedmontese Cadets regional qualification (Under 17) and the first Under 14 regional test (Giovanissimi Grand Prix) are scheduled. Representing the Circolo Delfino 25 athletes who competed in seven different categories divided by age. A total of three hundred competitors from Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta for a really intense weekend with a great desire to return to normality despite rigid anti Covid protocols to be respected.

THE MEDALS

Ivrea dominion in the Boys-Students category (born 2007-2008). Triumph and gold medal to Edoardo Strobbia, unbeaten all day. In the semifinal the Ivrea derby with Strobbia good at overcoming his club mate Riccardo Gera, then third. Also noteworthy are the placings of Riccardo Galluzzo (sixth), Riccardo Conrieri (eleventh) and Matteo Casalegno (twelfth). Among the Giovanissimi (2009) bronze medal for the Ivrea standard bearer Daniele Di Crescenzo, who stopped in the semifinals. In the women’s field, Girls category (2010), Aliki Tonso leaves the stage in the quarter-finals, finishing in fifth place.

As for the Under 17s (Cadets), the bronze of Marco Bonino and the fifth place of Filippo Casalegno, both qualified for the Italian championship in Riccione in May. Bonino missed the final for just one hit (14-15). Jacopo Alberga and Federico Longo are also competing for the Circolo Delfino. Among the women, the pass for the tricolor category Stella Scalambrin (sixth) and Giorgia Lavezzo (fifteenth) deserve. Followed in the ranking by Caterina Mainardi and Rebecca Benato.
