LA Galaxy won’t let go of Joseph Paintsil (but doesn’t have to strike yet)

Genk –

At KRC Genk nothing will happen on deadline day. But that doesn’t mean no one will leave anymore. LA Galaxy are not letting go of Joseph Paintsil and still have plenty of time to sign the player.

The departure of backs Munoz and Arteaga is compensated by the arrival of Nkuba and Sobol. That’s it for KRC Genk’s transfer moves within this winter mercato. But there may be one more outgoing transfer in the coming days (or weeks).

LA Galaxy is not giving up its efforts to bring Joseph Paintsil (26) to the MLS. The Americans still have time for that until… April 23. After all, the transfer period has only just started in the MLS. Paintsil previously ignored a proposal from LA Galaxy but is now considering a new offer. It may partly explain his extremely nervous behavior against OH Leuven, where he flirted with a red card and was taken aside as a precaution by coach Wouter Vrancken.

If Paintsil wants to go to LA Galaxy, the American club will have to sit down with KRC Genk again. Earlier this month, Paintsil could be picked up for a limited transfer fee of 8 million according to a clause in his contract, but that period has now definitively expired.

Winter Mercato KRC Genk:

In: Ken Nkuba (Charleroi), Eduard Sobol (Strasbourg, rent)

Out: Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace), Gerardo Arteaga (CF Monterrey)
