The press conference to present the two scheduled distances, among which the very tough new entry of 42 kilometers stands out (with 3,600 meters of positive difference in altitude). At the speakers’ desk: the Undersecretary with Delegation for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region; Massimo Sertori (councilor for local authorities, mountains, energy resources, use of water resources), Silvana Snider (regional councillor), Davide Trussoni (as president of the Valchiavenna mountain community), Stefano Della Morte (spokesperson for the municipal administration of Campodolcino and of the ASD Amici di Fraciscio organizing committee) and Gualtiero Colzada (race director and mountain guide). The race around Pizzo Stella, born in 2015 and organized by the ASD Amici di Fraciscio, this year is a stage of the Fisky Italian Cup circuit.

The press conference was also an opportunity to announce the opening of registrations. Compared to the previous 35 kilometer route, that of the new Pizzo Stella Skymarathon is new in the stretch that from Alpe Angeloga leads to the summit of Groppera (2,948 metres), and adds another 7 kilometers and 950 meters of pure vertical effort to the original. Tough, technical and demanding, the race will reach the territory of the municipality of Madesimo as well as those of Campodolcino, San Giacomo Filippo and Piuro, thus embracing, in a symbolic way, the whole of Valchiavenna. Furthermore, the already well-tested and appreciated Pizzo Stella Skyrace of 20 km and 1,600 meters D+ has been reconfirmed. The marathon race will also be the sixth stage of the Crazy Skyrunning Italy Cup Italian Cup circuit, supported by the Crazy brand (also sponsor of the race) and under the aegis of Fisky (Italian Skyrunning Federation).

Athletes who decide to tackle it must have good preparation and know how to manage the distance and the difference in altitude in semi-self-sufficiency. To guarantee safety conditions, 3 time gates have been located along the route: the first at Pizzo Sommavalle (km 11.5) which will close 3 hours after the start of the race; the second at Alpe Angeloga (km 23) which will close after 5 hours and a final time barrier at the Ristoro Larici – Madesimo (km 32) which will close 7 hours after the start of the race. Anyone who does not pass within the indicated time, to safeguard their own safety, will be stopped and will have to leave. The maximum time to complete the competition is 9 hours from departure.
